Essential Functions
Ahoy! Join our crew this season as a Concessions and Photography Associate. This seasonal position is perfect for those looking to gain experience in the hospitality and tourism industries, all while supporting our two National Historic Landmarks—the Belle of Louisville and Life Saving Station #10—as well as our third vessel, Mary M. Miller. As a member of the Food & Beverage Team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, such as preparing and selling food and beverage items, photographing guests as they come aboard, selling souvenir photos and much more. No experience? No worries! Training is provided.
Responsibilities
- Photograph passengers as they board the boats.
- Obtain or receive food and beverage items, set up displays and stock shelves, counters, coolers and bins.
- Prepare and serve food and beverage items, restocking food items as needed.
- Answer questions regarding food and beverage prices, merchandise, etc.
- Print and sell souvenir photos
- Clean concession area and souvenir stand, including (but not limited to) sweeping and mopping, polishing brass trim, cleaning shelves, bins, counters, utensils and equipment, etc.
- Operate and verify cash drawer, including balancing contents at beginning and end of each shift, totaling prices and receiving payments, recording sales on summary log sheet, etc.
- Cross-trained to work at bar (if 21 & over), if needed.
- Performs related work and other duties as assigned.
Examples of Work
- Obtains or receives food and beverage items, sets up displays and stocks shelves, counters, coolers and bins.
- Verifies cash drawer upon reporting to work. Operates a cash register to total price on food and beverages purchased by customers, receives payment from customers and makes change.
- Prepares food and beverages, serves customers, replenishes food items and answers questions from customers concerning concession prices.
- At end of shift removes money and records sales on summary log sheet. Replenishes beginning cash drawer money and meets with Purser to reconcile register tape with deposit.
- Informs Purser of additional cash needs during cruise. Also, notifies Purser of cash register and cash register tape problems.
- Cleans shelves, bins, counters, utensil and equipment; sweeps and mops concession area at end of shift.
- Performs related work and other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service skills
Minimum Requirements
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Willing to work varied schedule, which may include mornings, evenings and holidays
- Must wear safety equipment as mandated by the U.S Coast Guard.
- Submit to and pass alcohol and drug test as mandated by the USCG including pre-employment, random and post-accident testing.
- Able to tolerate hot and cold environments.
- Able to transit stairs.
